Boston – My Favorite American City

Boston, the City on the Hill, with historic landmarks, conveniently nestled among the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods, areas with cobblestone streets and colonial-era architecture that you would want to wander even if you didn’t feel obligated to do so, makes it my preferred American city with all the history it hides.

Small and walkable, Boston is jam-packed with centuries-old landmarks, gorgeous parks, world-class universities and some of America’s best restaurants. Wherever you’re headed after your flight to Boston lands, you’ll find each neighbourhood in the compact city has a unique appeal – the wealthy Back Bay, the trendy South End, the historic Beacon Hill – while Cambridge, just across the exquisite Charles River, has a thriving cultural and culinary scene all its own. At the heart of the city are baseball’s Boston Red Sox, and their iconic Fenway Park stadium.

Exploring Boston is best on foot. Stroll along the Freedom Trail, visiting the Old State House Museum for a taste of American history (its impressive collection includes tea from the Boston Tea Party); explore the Greenway with its new public parks, and walk the leafy banks of the Charles River.

Sightseeing in Boston certainly is rewarding, and it can build up an appetite. The city has an exciting culinary scene that’s constantly evolving. Boston’s traditional roots are still strong, though, and staples like New England clam chowder, Boston cream pie and oysters are all widely available1158397363.

The Charles River is famous for its rowers, but you can paddle down it in your very own kayak. Rent one for an hour or two, and get in a workout while you glide past Boston’s gorgeous trees, parks, and skyline views.

Not to miss – Watching the Red Sox at Fenway Park

A Red Sox game is the ultimate Boston experience, even if you’re not a baseball fan. Settle in for a few innings at Fenway Park, the oldest stadium still in use in the country, and join the hyper-enthusiastic fans atop the ‘Green Monster’, the iconic green wall that overlooks the left field. 311860862
