Beirut – A city with a certain Je ne sais quoi!

After minor wars and rebuilding years, Beirut now enjoys a well-deserved reputation as the jewel of the Mediterranean and the true partying capital of the Middle East. I have never visited a city like Beirut. Known as the ‘Paris of the East’, Beirut has it all: culture, history, nature and cuisine. During the day, you can sunbathe on the golden beaches or enjoy the breeze of the beautiful mountains. While at night you can mingle with the fashionable and charismatic Lebanese crowd. Sky Bar is the perfect place to spend the night. The bar is considered to be the “in” place and offers fantastic views of the Med and Martyr’s square.

The people of Beirut

The Lebanese can sometimes be a little enigmatic. It’s not always easy to cope with their approach: one word in English, one in Arabic and the other in French; a “dress to impress” attitude, and a little bit of snobbism on occasion. That being said, it is hard not to admire the people. Locals are irrepressible, vigorous and have a ‘live for the day’ attitude, which is reflected in their unique lifestyle and the cosmopolitan flair of modern Beirut.

I have been to Beirut twice and while I am always ready to visit this city time and time again. I’m especially looking forward to the New Year celebrations, which are famous for being the most amazing in the Middle East. So what more can I say? Go visit Beirut! You’ve got all the reasons to: cheap tickets, short distance, affordable accommodation, great food, a super merry nation, not to mention a unique culture, lively nightlife and plenty of beaches and mountains.
